NASCAR, ISC to install more soft walls at tracks by 2017

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - NASCAR is adding more soft walls beyond Daytona International Speedway. International Speedway Corp., NASCARs sister company that owns Daytona and several other sanctioned tracks, announced plans Saturday to install about 54,000 feet of additional energy-absorbing SAFER Barrier at its facilities. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Minnesota Twins pitcher Ervin Santana has been reinstated following an 80-game drug suspension and is scheduled to start Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. Santana signed a $55 million, four-year contract with the Twins in December after going 14-10 with a 3.95 ERA last season for Atlanta. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Nashville Predators have signed free-agent forward Cody Bass to a one-year, two-way contract. Under terms of the deal announced Saturday, Bass contract will be worth $575,000 when hes in the NHL and $125,000 when hes in the American Hockey League. CLEVELAND (AP) - Cavaliers All-Star guard Kyrie Irving has undergone surgery to repair his broken kneecap, an injury sustained in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
