Channel 3 AM Forecast

Posted:
(WRCB) - Good Thursday.  The heat is on for next few days with showers and storms poised to move in for the weekend.

The average high for late August is 88 degrees.  We will manage to soar up to 94 this afternoon.  While the humidity won't be out of control, you may want to avoid being outdoors, if possible, between the hours of 3pm and 6pm.  Our morning and evening hours should be quite comfortable.
Most of us will have mostly sunny skies today, although a sagging front will bring some clouds and MAYBE a stray shower to the area well north of Chattanooga.

For Friday, it will once again be all about the mornings and evenings as we see our afternoon highs soaring into the low to mid 90s.

Saturday will be pretty uncomfortable.  It will be humid throughout the day, and highs in the afternoon will reach the low 90s.  Late in the afternoon, a slow moving front will approach and bring some widely scattered showers and storms Saturday afternoon into Saturday night.

I think we can expect scattered showers and storms to pop up on and off through the day Sunday.  That will keep the temperature in check.  Sunday's high will only reach the mid 80s.

For Labor Day, I think we will see some of those showers and storms lingering into the day Monday, but they will dwindle to only a few isolated showers or storms by the afternoon.  By the time you are lighting the grill, the rain chance will be hovering at about 30%.  The high Monday will reach 91.
